A few days ago, Darksiders Warmastered Edition has finally arrived on Nintendo Switch, marking the debut of the Knights of the Apocalypse by THQ Nordic on the hybrid of the Kyoto house.
The editors of Digital Foundry immediately took the opportunity to pass under its magnifying glass the technical porting sector which, apparently, proved to be very satisfying. Darksiders Warmastered Edition for Nintendo Switch gives players the freedom to choose between two different modes, which favor visual quality and framerate, respectively.
Setting the first, you get a presentation in Full HD (1920×1080) in a home configuration and 1440×810 in a portable configuration. This mode also offers higher quality anti-aliasing and better quality texture filtering. In both cases, the framerate remains anchored to the 30fps threshold. The second mode, however, allows you to reach 60 fps at the expense of resolution, which stops at values of 1280×720 in docked and 960×540 in mobility. The framerate drops on the occasion of more intense boss battles but remains satisfactory.
Digital Foundry also notes that the Switch version shares all the basic assets (textures, character models, geometries, etc.) with the PlayStation 4 Pro one. For obvious reasons, the Sony console offers higher quality texture resolution and filtering. You can get an even more precise idea by watching the video analysis attached at the beginning of the news. Good vision!
