The announcement of his retirement dates back to last February, but only now has it become a reality. Starting today April 15 Reggie Fils-Aime is no longer the president of Nintendo of America.
From now on, as he himself explained, he will devote himself full time to his wife, his family, and his friends. His place will be occupied by Doug Bowser, whose destiny apparently was already written in his surname. An era has come to an end, but the Kyoto house seems to be in good hands, given the excellent work that Bowser has done for the launch and promotion of Nintendo Switch. The executive joined the Japanese company in 2015 as vice president of sales and marketing. In recent years it has not been shown very often in public but, in all probability, things will change in the future given its new duties. Perhaps starting from the next E3 2019, during which the inevitable direct will be broadcast.
Reggie Fils-Aime has already taken care to greet and thank all Nintendo fans with an exciting video message, released shortly after the announcement of his farewell. On that occasion, Regginator said: “Thank you for your unconditional support and the love you have shown towards Nintendo. And personally, for giving me a Mushroom Kingdom full of incredible memories that I will never forget.” If you haven’t already done so, we recommend that you read our Reggie Fils-Aime story special.
