PS5 8K

Revelations continue from the long interview with Mark Cerny published in the Wired USA, from which emerged the technical specifications of PlayStation 5 and other details on Sony’s next Next-Gen console.

The Sony hardware designer and manager confirms that PlayStation 5 will have an optical reader, compatible with DVD, Blu-Ray and 4K Blu-ray, and Cerny says that ” PS5 will support 8K resolution “, it is not clear, however, if limited to video, to games, or for both media, a much more probable hypothesis.

Regarding the backward compatibility, we discover that ” PlayStation 5 will share some elements with PS4 and therefore will be compatible with the games of the current platform” while no news has come regarding compatibility with the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and PSOne titles.

Cerny then talked about the first PlayStation 5 games stating that ” the console will see original titles and Cross-Gen productions to make it easier for consumers to switch to another machine “, Cross-Gen games will probably include First Party titles such as Death Stranding, The Last of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima, although Cerny has not confirmed, merely smiling about the production of Hideo Kojima.
