Odyssey Of The Dragonlords: From Former Bioware The Myths Of Ancient Greece For Dungeons & Dragons

Odyssey of the Dragonlords is the title of the new role-playing game project by Arcanum Worlds, in which the authors mixed fantasy, epic, and Greek mythology to obtain an ambitious original setting compatible with the Open Game License of the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons. We had already talked about it a few months ago but these are the hours when the Kickstarter campaign dedicated to product financing was activated.

This new manual will, in fact, be published by Modiphius Entertainment, thanks to a crowdfunding campaign on the Kickstarter platform, currently underway.
The game is the work of  James Ohlen and Jesse Sky, former BioWare creative directors, responsible for some of the most beautiful digital role-playing games ever, like Baldur’s Gate 1 & 2, Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 1 & 2. The authors will be joined by writer Drew Karpyshyn, while the graphics part will be entrusted to  Michal Cross, lead graphic designer of Modiphius Entertainment.

Odyssey of the Dragonlords will let you explore and experience adventures in Thylea, an ancient land where men and Gods are bound by oaths and guided by prophecy
500 years ago, following a fierce war against the Titans, an Oath of Peace was forged which led the people of Thylea to prosper. Time passed and the power of this sacred bond unfortunately vanished. Failing the Peace Oath, the Titans are ready to claim their revenge.
The characters will be erected as a bulwark, in the role of heroes destined to put an end to this conflict forever.

The main sources of inspiration for this project were above all the classic epic poems such as the Odyssey, the Iliad, and the Argonautics, as well as films such as Clash of the Titans. The main themes of the game will be the prophecies with a destiny to fulfill, the exploration of the unknown, navigation in unknown seas and the epic struggle against supernatural beings like Gods and Titans.
The tone of the adventures of Odyssey of the Dragonlords will be epic, placing the focus on character growth – from a group of fighters to early experiences to legendary heroes – that will lead them to fulfill a mythical destiny through a wide-ranging open world style narrative.

The basic manual of Odyssey of the Dragonlords will be a 280 page color volume , which will cover the original setting of Thylea in all its aspects (history, factions, kingdoms, deities, etc.) and will provide the necessary tools to narrate a campaign in epic style for characters from the first to the tenth level.
Although the basic rules of the game are those of the fifth edition of D&D, in the manual it will be possible to find the adaptations necessary to make the mythological atmosphere of ancient Greece consistent, thanks to the optional customizations for the characters, to the bestiary that will collect the iconic monsters and to a collection of new and original magical objects inspired by classic myths.

The Kickstarter amp provides three pledge levels for backers who wish to support this project: Bronze, Silver and Gold Medalist
Bronze Medalist (starting at $ 22) will allow you to win the content (manual and stretch goals) in digital format.
Silver Medalist (starting at $ 54) will give you the right to receive physical copies of the hardcover manual, the player’s guide softcover supplement and the various stretch goals, as well as all the material in digital format.
Gold Medalist ($ 80) is the deluxe pledge which, in addition to everything included in the Silver level, will also give you the Master screen and poster format maps.

If you are intrigued by this new setting, you can consult the Player’s Guide to Odyssey of the Dragonlords, a 32-page introductory file, which Arcanum World is distributing for free on DriveThruRPG.com.
The Odyssey of the Dragonlords Kickstarter campaign will end on May 16, 2019, and the project is currently funded. Supporters of the campaign will see their manuals delivered in September 2019.
