Not only with the vast open world worlds of Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry, but also with the most intimate story told in Child of Light Ubisoft has managed to capture the attention of many players, dazzled by the artistic inspiration that can boast the title originally released in April 2014.
So many would like to see a hypothetical Child of Light 2 but, unfortunately, according to the words of game director Patrick Plourde, it is unlikely that the transalpine company will soon fulfill this wish.
“Right now, I don’t think Child of Light 2 is in production … Let’s say I’m not holding my breath. I don’t think it’s the kind of game Ubisoft wants to develop. In terms of portfolio, it’s still supported: we brought on Switch and we are still selling several copies, but the fact is that now everything revolves around the game as a service, we can make money from it, but then earn much more elsewhere. This is the problem of not being independent working in this sector”, were the words of the director, clearly embittered.
Although there are no concrete plans for the creation of a new chapter, Plourde had already outlined the guidelines for a possible prequel to Child of Light: “I have in mind the main aspects, the location, and would have more than one protagonist. It would include two characters who take two different paths of life driven by different motivations, but linked by friendship”.
We’ll see if Ubisoft will raise the demands of fans eager for a continuation of Child of Light. Would you like to see a prequel to the game?
