Star Wars Battlefront 2 The Game Honors Peter Mayhew, Chewbacca's Interpreter

During the night of April 30th, Peter Mayhew, a historical interpreter of Chewbacca, was missing, one of the most iconic characters in the entire Star Wars film series.

The actor had dressed as the beloved Wookie, the loyal companion of Han Solo and co-pilot of the legendary Millennium Falcon, in the films of the original film trilogy, but also in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. In paying tribute to Peter Mayhew, the videogame community also made a small but symbolic contribution.

In particular, following the spread of the sad news, many gamers of Star Wars Battlefront 2 have chosen to remember the actor through dedicated posts published on the known Reddit platform. Among the various messages, some suggestions also appeared to ask DICE to organize an in-game event that could honor the actor’s memory. Other users have instead chosen to use the skin depicting a wounded Chewbacca, from Episode VII: The Force Awakens. A further initiative was instead taken by the Star Wars Battlefront 2 Producers. As you can verify at the bottom, the main menu of the game now houses the image of the wounded wookie.

Thank you, devs. 🙁 from StarWarsBattlefront
