There seems to be renewed enthusiasm for Nintendo Switch: the president of the Kyoto company has increased sales expectations for the current fiscal year, which will end on April 1st, 2020.
Initially, Nintendo had planned to sell 20 million consoles during this period, later the estimate was lowered to 17 million and now again increased to 18 million. During the last shareholder meeting, President and CEO Shuntaro Furukawa spoke in detail about the plans for the current fiscal year:
” Switch has entered its third year and the plan for this year is based on the growth of hardware and software sales, factors in which we believe a lot of thanks to the good lineup of incoming games. The switch has reached over thirty million consumers in two years and we think that the games that will come from Nintendo and third-party publishers will be able to win more users. “
Furukawa says he is confident about this and hopes that ” Nintendo will be able to sell 18 million Switch consoles by April 1, 2020 ” in order to be able to comply with the established plans. During the meeting, the President also spoke of Nintendo ‘s approach to streaming, declaring itself open towards the future but keeping in mind that the company has built a perfect synergy between hardware and software over the years.
