Crytek Presents Cryengine 5.7: Details on the New Version of the Graphics Engine


Crytek known for the creation of the Crysys series and the exclusive Microsoft Ryse, which we discussed in our review of Ryse Son of Rome, presented the new version of its graphics engine.

The CRYENGINE is in fact ready to welcome a new update, which will take it to version 5.7. Currently, the software house roadmap foresees its publication in the spring of 2020. But what will be the main features of CRYENGINE 5.7? The features presented are quite numerous, including the implementation of DirectX 12; Vulkan and Raytracing. The new iteration of the Crytek graphics engine will also include some features related to VR. Among the features mentioned, in fact, better support for reality and virtuality and the addition of Oculus Quest among the supported platforms appear. Overall, therefore, the CRYENGINE 5.7 seems to be ready to bring with it a significant range of novelties, which we will be able to see in action starting from the spring of next year.

In the meantime, we take the opportunity to remind you that Crytek is currently working on a new online shooter. The project is a triple-A production and its development involves, in addition to the German software house, also Improbable. In addition to the CRYENGINE, in fact, the realization of the game will also employ the Spatial OS cloud platform.
