Robert Ryan, a former developer of Naughty Dog and Motive Studios, recently updated his LinkedIn profile to let people know he joined The Initiative, a new internal Microsoft team that can boast some of the leading videogame industry veterans.
It has been noticed by Klobrille, an insider who has always been very attentive to everything related to the house in Redmond. Ryan began his career in 2009 at Vogster Entertainment, before moving the next year to KAOS Studios, a now-dead THQ team. But the turning point came in July 2011, when he joined Naughty Dog: as Game Designer, he worked on titles like Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, The Last of Us, Uncharted 4: End of a Thief and The Last of Us: Part 2. Subsequently, in June 2017, he joined Motive Studio, where he contributed to the development of a title never announced ( the late Star Wars?).
Finally, in April 2019, he was hired by The Initiative, a new study belonging to the Microsoft constellation, which includes other illustrious names such as Christian Cantamessa (designer of Red Dead Redemption), Drew Murray (formerly of Insomniac) and Tom Shephard (developer of Grand Theft Auto 5). A true dream team, which can now also count on the know-how of Robert Ryan. Unfortunately, at the moment we don’t know what The Initiative is working on: will we know more about it during Microsoft’s E3 2019 conference?
