After comparing the maps of Rage 2 and Just Cause 4 to illustrate the differences, Tim Willits of id Software reveals to GameSpot microphones the in-game features that can be obtained by those who will stream the title on Twitch.
The id Software boss explained that he wanted to “integrate the Twitch extension into our game to try to encourage streaming. Open world video game streams are not as widespread as you might think, and so we thought that for the same nature of the RAGE 2 gameplay, and for the fun things we added, we will make many streamers happy”.
The Twitch extension of RAGE 2 will introduce some new features to the Bethesda open world FPS gaming experience: those who play in streaming can receive help from viewers. If the latter witness Walker’s killing, in fact, they can try to bring him back to life with a defibrillator’s minigame : the amount of health recovered by the hero will be determined by the number of users who, participating in the streaming and using the appropriate extension , will want to “contribute to the cause”.
Another function of the Rage 2 Twitch extension will be to rename the in-game contest participants with the spectator’s nickname. Based on the popularity of this extension, Tim Willits promises to enrich it with content through post-launch updates that will include, for example, prizes for viewers and streamer.
What do you think of this initiative? Before hearing your opinion on this, let’s remind those who follow us that the launch of RAGE 2 is scheduled for May 14 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
