Problems for Nippon Ichi Software: the company responsible for the Disgaea series is not doing well at all financially due to the poor sales of its latest titles. The news was given by the Japanese portal Otakomu, later translated into English by RPG Site.
The situation seems to be rather critical, as the company is unable to pay its employees salary. Most of the blame can be attributed to the poor success of Disgaea RPG for iOS and Android, a title marred by numerous problems since it was launched in Japan last March. NIS has removed it from the stores of Apple and Google with the promise of improving it, but in the meantime, it is not earning even a penny. Now the mobile game is postponed indefinitely.
In an attempt to save itself, the Japanese company has started a procedure called Moving Strike Warrant, with the aim of accumulating money and paying its employees. In essence, NIS is trying to sell its shares at a very low price, a process that will result in lowering the value of the entire company.
The report does not refer to the western branch of the company, NIS America. Among the latest Nippon titles, Ichi Software arriving in Europe include Disgaea 5: PC Complete, Yomawari: The Long Night Collection for Nintendo Switch, Lapis x Labyrinth for Nintendo Switch and PS4, and Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk for PC and Nintendo Switch.
News of Disgaea RPG (smartphone game that's now delayed indefinitely) has resurfaced in a bad way.
Reports starting to come out that NIS is not able to pay the salaries of its employees & have resorted to a MS (Moving Strike) Warrant as a last resort. https://t.co/ICVtR95bnY pic.twitter.com/CIig3Zy2Se
