Sony Will Acquire New Studios and Expand Internal Teams for PS5

News from Sony IR Day, the investor conference held in Tokyo over the last few days, continues to arrive. On this occasion, the company confirmed its commitment to the first party games, confirming greater investments in this regard.

The first party games are and will remain an important part of the PlayStation offer, which is why the Japanese company intends to continue following this path, through two different plans: strengthening and expanding the internal teams and acquiring already established studios and software houses.

It is unclear whether Sony already has third-party teams in its sights, the latest true acquisition of Sony Interactive Entertainment is that of Sucker Punch Productions in 2011, a team is known for the Sly Raccoon and inFAMOUS series, currently working on Ghost of Tsushima.

Today’s rumors that Microsoft would like to acquire three more studios: Asobo Studio (authors of A Plague Tale Innocence), IO Interactive (owners of the Hitman franchise) and Relic Entertainment, involved in Age of Empires 4.
