While there will probably be a few more years to wait to see a real sequel to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, that doesn’t mean that we won’t be able to experience new adventures in Tamriel. Bethesda has, in fact, announced the first board game set in her fantasy universe.
This is The Elder Scrolls: Call to Arms, by Modiphius Entertainment, which is a bit like the mechanics of Fallout: Wasteland Warfare. An adventure with lots of miniatures in which you can play in groups or alone, keeping an eye on your resources and managing your troops through ruined outposts and old fortresses.
As mentioned in the opening the game offers several miniatures including the iconic Dragonborn, which is even available for purchase, pending the launch of the game, while many others will be added to the release.
Modiphius has announced that a single player set from Dragonborn will arrive, and that “more races and characters are planned from all the stories of The Elder Scrolls”, so it is reasonable to expect different expansions to the theme.
The Elder Scrolls: Call to Arms should arrive around Christmas this year, although a more precise release date has not yet been revealed.
What do you think? Do you like the idea of a themed board game?
