Hearthstone: Card Balancing to Reduce the Effectiveness of the Thief Decks

Hearthstone: Card Balancing to Reduce the Effectiveness of the Thief Decks

Blizzard Entertainment has announced that it will release an important patch for Hearthstone tomorrow, which will apply balances to the Villain of Evil, Raid Squad, Preparation, and Elysian Archivist cards.

The Irvine company, after having thoroughly examined the game data and the players’ opinions, decided to intervene to recalibrate the power level and popularity of the Thief’s decks (which became predominant in the META) and modify a specific interaction of the Elysian Archivist card. “At the moment, if you want to compose a deck that has a good chance of winning against the Thief, the only sensible choice is the Warrior. Looking at the various Warrior decks, however, it turns out that this class has a great variety of positive matches. and negatives against other decks, and it is therefore difficult for it to become more popular than the Thief in the goal”, the official statement reads. Here are all the changes that will take effect tomorrow, May 22:

  • Villain of evil – Health passes from 5 to 4;
  • Raid Squad – Mana costs go from 3 to 4;
  • Preparation – New description: ” The next Magic you cast in this turn costs (2) less”, and no more “(3) less”.
  • Elysian Archivist – The cost in Mana goes from 8 to 9.

What do you think of these changes? Do you think it will be enough to lower the effectiveness of the Thief’s decks and balance the META? We take this opportunity to remind you that a few days ago the new Hearthstone single player campaign was launched, Big Shot in Dalaran.
