It may seem like a joke but it is not: Panic (publisher of indie titles like Firewatch) has announced a new portable console called PlayDate, with a black and white screen and even a … crank!
PlayDate will be focused on independent games, titles specially developed to stand out on the screen in black and white: the console will be on sale for $ 149 with twelve indie games distributed on a weekly basis. The crank will be used as a control system for some games, along with the keys of the traditional keypad. Among the names that have decided to support the project are Keita Takahashi, Shaun Inman, Zach Gage, and Bennett Foddy.
More details are available on the official website, PlayDate will be available at the beginning of 2020, a report is available on the new issue of EDGE for sale today in British newsstands and in digital format. What do you think of this new console?
