Anyone who has purchased the Nintendo Switch version of Team Sonic Racing will undoubtedly be surprised by the lack of cinematic intro, which is present in all other versions of the game. The reason for this lack has just been explained by Sega.
The software house has, in fact, decided not to include it in order not to exceed the weight limit of the cartridges for the Nintendo console. In fact, the Grande N offers different varieties of cartridges to developers, but obviously, a larger cartridge means more expense. Considering that Team Sonic Racing weighs about 7 GB, the choice to remove the intro was probably made to avoid exceeding the 8 GB limit and therefore having to use larger and more expensive support.
Sega also revealed that there are no plans to add cutscene in the future between Team Sonic Racing post-launch content , perhaps through a patch , also because from the point of view of the software house, it is not really a fundamental feature of the game, especially as the intro of Team Sonic Racing is easily visible on YouTube, if there were any interested Switch users.
What do you think of the situation? Is it really a minor thing, or would you have preferred the intro to be in the Switch version of the game?
