The New COD Will Be Called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Will It Be a Soft Reboot?

Officiality is still missing, but all the clues suggest that the next Call of Duty to land on the shelves will be the fourth chapter of the Modern Warfare series, developed by Infinity Ward.

While the community waits patiently for the announcement that should take place in the coming weeks, rumors have begun to circulate on the network about the title that will be assigned to the new exponent of the saga. To date we have referred to it as Modern Warfare 4 but, as stated with some confidence by Jason Schreier of Kotaku, Activision may have decided to do without the numbering and simply call it Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

The reasons for this choice would be due to the desire not to create further confusion: if well remembered, the first chapter of the trend developed by Infinity Ward was called Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. From that chapter on, the numbering was moved from the name of the main series to the subtitle, and we had Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3. “I can confirm that this is true, as well as being fun,  wrote Schreier. “The first was called Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, so obviously the fourth is called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Video games are absurd.

Moreover, according to the journalist, the new chapter would act as a ” soft reboot” of the Modern Warfare series, so abandoning the number would make even more sense. We will only have the certainty when the presentation is made, so for the moment, we advise you to take this information with pliers. It is not yet clear when it will be announced, but we know for sure that Call of Duty 2019 will be at E3 2019.
