Vodafone and ESL Together for the First Mobile Esport Tournament in 5G

Vodafone and ESL, the largest event organizer in the world, today launched the ” Vodafone 5G ESL Mobile Open “, a mobile tournament that for the first time, among international esport competitions, will end with a live final played on 5G network.

The Vodafone 5G ESL Mobile Open, which will start on May 31st and continue until September 29th, 2019, is open to players from the 17 countries in which Vodafone is present.

The competition will be based on two popular online games for mobile devices: the arcade racing game Asphalt 9: Legends and the PUBG MOBILE battle royale.

The international tournament includes a series of online qualifiers, in addition to the ESL event qualifications: ESL One Birmingham in the UK, ESL One Cologne, and Gamescom in Germany.

Online qualifications can be played on any compatible Android or iOS mobile device and on any Internet connection.

For both games, the Finals will be played live on Vodafone’s 5G network at Milan Games Week on September 28 and 29, the most important gaming event in Italy.

The prize pool, for those who manage to play the final round, will be as much as € 165,000 and will be divided among the Vodafone 5G ESL Mobile Open finalists: €14,000 for the winner of Asphalt 9: Legends and a prize of 40,000 in total for the victorious team of PUBG MOBILE. All finalists will also win 5G smartphones.
