With a view to opening up to the PC market, it’s millions of fans and all the players in the gaming industry who make this platform their reference system, Phil Spencer of Microsoft announced that he would like to bring over 20 titles from the catalog of Xbox Game Studios on Steam.
“Allowing users to play together, through cross-platform and cross-network on Windows 10 PCs and consoles, is vitally important” , is the message that Microsoft’s Xbox division boss wanted to share with the rest of the community to sanction this agreement that will allow the Redmond company to launch on Steam titles such as Halo: The Master Chief Collection , the highly anticipated Gears 5 and all the chapters of the Age of Empires strategy series , including the Definitive Edition of Age of Empires 3 .
However, Spencer is aware that there are other digital stores on PC and that, as a result, he intends to work to allow users of other stores to access the titles produced under the auspices of Xbox Game Studios.
All Microsoft games that will land on Steam and, in the future, on other PC stores besides the official Windows Store, will include features such as voice and text chat, friend lists, cross-play between PCs and consoles and, on the Windows ecosystem 10, access to the renewed Xbox Game Bar. More information will be shared by Microsoft during E3 2019: in the meantime, the US technological giant confirms its willingness to introduce full support to applications compiled in Win32 downloadable through the Microsoft Store on Windows 10 PC.
