PlayStation VR has sold over 4 million units, according to the latest sales figures, and although it is, therefore, a rather widespread product, virtual reality has not yet reached that state of the mainstream that made it make the final qualitative leap.
The figure is indeed encouraging, but compared to over 90 million PlayStation 4 sold is still relatively low. Yet at last some remarkable results Sony is starting to get it, and an important one arrived just this week.
For the first time in fact, at the top of the English sales charts, there is an exclusive PlayStation VR: it is Blood & Truth, which has managed to overtake a giant like FIFA 19 and is now at the top of the chart of the week.
It was a pretty tight fight, but despite the boost in sales given by the all-English Champions League final, Blood & Truth sold 400 more copies of EA Sports’s football simulation, thus reaching the top step of the podium.
The game could eventually turn out to be the second great Sony London Studio hit, after PlayStation VR Worlds, by far the best-selling PSVR game, thanks to the fact that it is sold bundled with the headset.
