Dying Light 2 Will Resemble Game of Thrones, According to Techland

The Techland authors play with the feelings of the millions of Game of Thrones fans who were orphaned of their favourite series after the conclusion of the eighth and final season, deciding, with a rather bold synthesis exercise, to combine Dying Light 2 with the epic fantasy of Game of Thrones.

Interviewed by WCCFTech colleagues on the ambitions of Polish developers for the second chapter of their iconic open-world action-horror series, Lead Game Designer Tymon Smektala explained that the story of Dying Light 2will has several points in common with the given setting from the authors of Game of Thrones to the factions that animate the Seven Kingdoms.

“So far we have revealed the two most important factions, the Scavengers and the Peacekeepers”, Smektala begins by explaining that “both are a force to be reckoned with since both, in their own way, govern the city and have a different idea of how they want to survive. Peacekeepers want the death of all the Infected while the Scavengers prefer to build safe havens by excluding their civilization from the Infected and from those who do not want to be part of it. You can agree with one or the other faction, but both also have lots of dirty secrets that will make you look at the world from a completely different perspective”.

Just as for the kingdoms competing for the Throne of Swords, even in the post-apocalyptic universe of Dying Light 2 the plots hatched by the factions that want to control the city will help to enrich the narrative mixture of the title, or at least that’s what we promise Techland’s lead developer adding that “this is just the beginning, since in the world of Dying Light 2 there are many other smaller factions trying to thrive in the shadows by plotting against other major factions. It will be a political configuration rather complex, almost like in Game of Thrones. And no, there is no reputation system in the game, we don’t want you to collect points, we want you to make real decisions in a realistic narrative context.
