Algeria is preparing, just like other African national teams, to support the tough continental tournament. It seems, however, that there is time between one training session and another to play Fortnite and stream on Twitch.
The goalkeeper of the Algerian national team Alexandre Oukidja was really live on Twitch from his hotel room when the roommate, the midfielder Belkelbla, appeared in the background letting the towel fall, showing off the full moon.
The news of the accident spread rapidly on social media, so much so that even the coach, Djamel Belmadi, intervened.
According to several newspapers, the 25-year-old was quickly removed from retirement and was sent home by the Algerian Football Federation (FAF). Reason? Disciplinary and balance issues within the group.
In all likelihood, the goalkeeper will also be punished. Perhaps not from the Algerian federation, but certainly from the inflexible Twitch, which banishes daily streamer for much less.
The stunt, however, could cost Belkelbla a good deal of purgatory. The boy was at his first call-up in the senior national team after he had previously played for the under-23 Algerian and had represented his country at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
