During the Nintendo Direct broadcast from the Kyoto House on the occasion of E3 2019, the arrival of Banjo Kazooie in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, as DLC characters, was announced rather surprisingly.
The news was greeted with joy and amazement not only by gamers but also by some of the videogames talents who had previously contributed to the growth of the Rare IP. Among them, the character design Steve Mayles and lead programmer Chris Sutherland, both pleasantly impressed by the news. The first, in particular, stated that seeing the two characters return to the gaming world after an absence of eleven years was “wonderful”. “I am really happy for all the passionate Banjo fans who have never lost hope that their heroes would come back someday! – said Mayles – The duo fits well with Smash Ultimate! “
Among the figures directly involved in the project by Nintendo, we find Grant Kirkhope, a composer previously employed by Rare. The author has, in fact, made a new song specifically for Super Smash Bros Ultimate. To give the author’s contacts to the Kyoto House was none other than the Italian Davide Soliani, creative director of the appreciated Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. Kirkhope had in fact taken part in the production of the music for the production of Ubisoft Milan and had therefore collaborated with Soliani himself.
Waiting to see in action Banjo-Kazooie in Super Smash Bros Ultimate stages, we remind you that also some Dragon Quest characters will arrive as DLC.
