On the occasion of E3 2019, the CEO and President of Square Enix, Yosuke Matsuda, expressed some interesting considerations on the importance of innovation within the software house.
In an interview, the CEO cited some of Square Enix’s most beloved franchises: Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy and Tomb Raider. Referring to the latter, Matsuda defined them as the real pillars of the Company. “For this reason – he added – we need to constantly innovatewith these. We believe that franchises and IPs are really living creatures”. By virtue of this, it highlights how these brands need a constant injection of the most innovative elements of a particular period, otherwise “they will end up dying”. The desire to take new paths and accept new challenges is therefore presented as essential. In this sense, Matsuda added: “I think this is a thought that all our developers share. ”
During May of this year, the software house confirmed Square Enix ‘s intention to invest in new IPs in a significant way. At the same time, we remind you that the software house is currently engaged in the realization of the expected Final Fantasy VII Remake, an ambitious videogame project, which aims to reconstruct Final Fantasy VII for a new era.
