Microsoft has long been involved in the re-launch of Age of Empires, thanks to the Definitive Editions of the first three episodes and the development of Age of Empires 4. But many are asking for a return of Age of Mythology, a series never forgotten by the community … and not even by Microsoft.
Speaking to the microphones of Eurogamer.net, the Creative Director of Age of Empires, Adam Isgreen, said that ” after dealing with three Definitive Editions and the fourth chapter of AOE, I would like to go back and figure out what to do with Age of Mythology. I love it and I assure you that it will not be abandoned, we will try to understand how to handle it. “
At the moment Microsoft does not seem to have direct plans for relaunching the series but Isgreen reiterates that ” the doors are open for a Definitive Edition ” while no sequel is spoken in any way. On the other hand, a patch will soon arrive for Age of Mythology Extended Edition, a remastered version released in 2014 and still plagued by some bugs and exploits that the community has been clamoring to remove.
