After the recent disagreements between developer and fanbase due to the exclusive publication of the game on Epic Store, here comes another piece of news that could upset those who funded the Shenmue III project from the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform from the beginning.
As specified in an email sent by Ys Net to a user, the backers who contributed to the development of Shenmue 3 will not be entitled to redeem the pre-order bonuses of the Deluxe Edition nor the Season Pass of the game expected in November. Depending on how you have supported the developers during fundraising you will get a different and unique version of the game, but the Season Pass will be purchased separately:
“The standard and deluxe versions distributed through retailers are not linked to the crowdfunding campaign, so they will not be included in the rewards for the backers; however, they will be available for sale separately. The Kickstarter Backers will receive the Kickstarter version, the Slacker Backers will receive the Slacker Backer version. Both have exclusive content not available in retail editions. The Season Pass is not included.
Details on the trial version launch date have yet to be outlined and will be announced in future updates. “
Recall that Shenmue 3 will be available on PC (via Epic Store) and PlayStation 4 from November 19th. During the Japan Expo, the game was shown again with unpublished images and videos.
