As promised a few weeks ago, Daybreak Games has finally unveiled the official release date of its DC Universe Online on the Nintendo hybrid console.
You can go back to playing the role of a superhero is free to play starting next 6 August 2019, a date on which all Nintendo Switch owners will be able to download the game on the eShop completely free of charge. Unfortunately, there will be no possibility to import your character from one of the other versions of the game, thus forcing you to start everything from scratch. The developers have in fact specified that the new profile will be associated with your Nintendo ID and that the servers of this version will be completely separated from those of all the others. But we must not lose all hope, as the development team itself has hinted at the possible arrival of cross-play, although at the moment there seems to be nothing to announce about it.
It is not clear if it is necessary to have an active subscription to Nintendo Switch Online in order to play the title, but it is likely that being a free to play the game, you can play even without a subscription just like in Fortnite Battaglia Reale.
Please note that DC Universe Online is already available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (Steam).
