Nintendo and Tencent Corporation have announced that they will hold a press conference at the Pudong Shangri-la Hotel in Shanghai on August 2 to announce plans for the launch of Nintendo Switch in China.
Last April the two companies formed a partnership to manage together the launch of the console on the Asian market (excluding Japan, of course), a territory where Tencent is extremely popular thanks to its free to play PC and mobile games such as League of Legends, Arena of Valor and Fortnite, all published in Asia by the Chinese giant.
At the moment we do not know when Nintendo Switch will be available in China, on August 2 the two companies are expected to unveil release date, prices and platform launch games, analysts expect not only Chinese localized versions of popular titles (like Splatoon 2, Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe) but also games produced by local developers, starting a program similar to the PlayStation China Hero Project.
