After postponing updates several times, it seems that Rare is ready to launch two new important features for Sea of Thieves such as the Pet and microntransitions. This is “A way to generate additional earnings while we continue to guarantee a service”, as stated by executive producer Joe Neate.
The software house kept us engrossed the fans who feared that the microtransitions would overbalance the game, confirming that instead they will be totally optional and will not offer advantages in battle, but simple cosmetic changes. Buyers will also always know what they are going to buy, and therefore there will be no systems like loot boxes and the like.
In addition to the Pet and the new looks of their character, emotes and objects are also coming to change the aesthetics of their ships, which sometimes will also be dedicated to games and characters from the world of videogames, a bit like happened with Banjo-Kazooie, Perfect Dark, and Halo.
At the moment there is no information on the price and the launch date of the new features of the game, but they will soon be tested with the Insider program.
