With a new firmware update that will soon be made available only to those who join the Preview program, Microsoft introduces a feature long requested by several owners of Xbox One.
Users who have been part of the Xbox One Preview Beta Ring program for at least 3 months and who have reached XP Level 5 as an Xbox Insider can now activate the 1908 console update. With this new active build, available from 25 July, those who fall into the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring can benefit from a new feature so, in the appropriate section, an estimate will be shown on the screen of how long they need download currently in progress to finish. The feature applies to whatever you download, be it games, applications or anything else (find a practical example in the image we have shown below). As specified by Microsoft’s Brad Rossetti, build 1910 does not yet include this functionality, but the development team will soon be asked to fix it.
In addition to this, after listening to user feedback, Microsoft decided to experiment with a new version of the console dashboard that, thanks to an alternative arrangement of icons, will allow users to access Xbox Game Pass, Mixer, Xbox Community, and Microsoft Store faster than ever. Some Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead ring users will be selected shortly and will be able to try the novelty later in the week. Meanwhile, you can take a little look at the restyling of the Home at the bottom of the news.
At the moment, therefore, everything is in the testing phase, but it is very likely that the features will also be introduced in the next public update of Xbox One. The latest update of the console, released just a few weeks ago, added new features for Xbox Game Pass and introduced support for Alexa.
