What do Donald Trump, Ariana Grande, Lil Nas X, and DrLupo have in common? Well, according to the US weekly TIME, they are all among the 25 most influential people in the world of the Web.
For the uninitiated, Benjamin “DrLupo” Lupo is, together with Ninja, one of the most famous “gaming influencers” in the world. One of the games that launched his career is Fortnite, Epic Games’ Battle Royale title. Recently, the 32-year-old has risen to headlines for being paid up to $50,000 an hour for his streaming activities but this is not why he was listed on the TIME list.
Benjamin has shown that he wants to contribute to improving society thanks to the many funds raised through numerous charity programs. In June, Lupo managed to get $ 920,000 in donations over four and a half hours on Fortnite during the GuardianCon, a sum entirely donated to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. And this is just the last of Lupo’s many beneficial gestures, which he had already organized in the past with the aim of raising money for charities and associations.
The TIME underlines “not all the names of the TOP 25 have distinguished themselves for positive actions, Lupo instead is a brilliant example of how video games can be used to do good. Every year the best streamers participate in the Play Live event organized by St. Jude Children’s Hospital, inviting their followers to donate and donate the entire proceeds to charity. Never had a sum as high as that donated by DrLupo this year been reached. “
The remaining people / groups within the ranking (not numbered) are Lil Nas X, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Donald Trump , BTS, Rahaf Mohammed, Ariana Grande, The School Strikers, Liza Koshy, Brian Kolfage, James Charles, the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Germán Garmendia, Cardi B, Chris Godfrey, Carlos Maza, Zhang Dayi, JoJo Siwa, Ben Shapiro, Emma Chamberlain, Hong Kong Protestants, Yashar Ali, Jameela Jamil, Ady Barkan and Jada Pinkett Smith.
So, I was named one of the 25 most influential people on the internet by @TIME.
