FIFA 19 Ultimate Team Generates Almost a Third of Electronic Arts’s Revenue

FIFA18 and FIFA 19 with 45 Million Active Players

Although the gains of Fortnite Battaglia Reale are incredible, there are many online titles whose microtransactions are able to generate profits that should not be underestimated and, among these, it seems there is also FIFA 19 Ultimate Team.

The package and card-based mode, in fact, would be able to generate 29% of the total earnings of a giant like Electronic Arts on its own. This percentage, which is really high, becomes even more surprising if we consider that in the publisher’s titles we find titles like Apex Legends, Battlefield V, Star Wars Battlefront II, and Anthem. The revenue related to FIFA Ultimate Team has grown steadily over the past few years, in fact, it has gone from 16% in 2017 to 17% in 2018 and then reaches the boom of the current year, where the figure almost covers a third of total earnings.

To push users to make more and more purchases in this particular model is not only the popularity of the sport but also the loot box based mechanics that make users continue to spend their savings with the aim of finding players more valid in the field.
