Sony Corporation announced that PlayStation 4 has reached 100 million consoles distributed worldwide since its launch in November 2013, data updated to June 30, 2019.

3.2 million consoles were distributed in the quarter from April 1 to June 30, 2019, the same quantity as the previous year. Sony has lowered its sales forecasts for the current fiscal year (which will end on April 1, 2020), from an expectation of 16 to 15 million items.

The PlayStation Plus subscribers have reached 36.2 million, an increase of 2.3 million over the same period of the previous fiscal year. In the quarter April / June 2019 42.9 million physical games were sold, an increase of 2.3 million, sales of digital games also rose, registering a + 53% compared to + 43% in the period April / June 2018.

Sony can certainly be said to be satisfied with the results achieved with PS4 and PS4 PRO, although sales in recent months have been declining, the company will continue to work to fully support the current generation console even after the launch of PlayStation 5, probably scheduled for 2020 although there are still no official confirmations on the subject by the Japanese company.
