In a meeting with shareholders in which the financial results of the second quarter of 2019 were discussed, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said he was satisfied with the sales of Oculus Quest, so much so that demand is currently higher than production.
A surprising result considering that both Facebook and Oculus had maintained the strictest confidentiality on the sales figures of the viewer, judged in each case as positive by the two companies.
“This quarter we released Oculus Quest, our first all-in-one wireless viewer with the full freedom of movement. It got great reviews and we are selling them as fast as we produce them. More important is the fact that we have created an experience that people continue to use week after week, buying new content “.
As we said, however, in North America and Europe it is quite difficult to find Oculus Quest for sale, and sometimes it takes months to wait for customers interested in buying an explosion. This could be due to three possible reasons: Facebook may have underestimated the demand; some factors not dependent on the company (such as lack of components) are slowing down production; the company has decided to distribute a few specimens to avoid clogging the production while waiting to understand the extent of the demand.
In any case, it seems that things are improving from this point of view, and sales could continue to increase given the latest rumors that Facebook and Ubisoft could bring Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell to Oculus. What do you think? Are you interested in the Facebook viewer?
