The second season of Overwatch Contenders Europe, a cadet championship dedicated to the made by Blizzard heroic shooter, is about to reach its climax with the grand final which will see the Italian HLS Esports team – formed, however, almost totally by Danish players – face the Finnish battleship Gigantti.
The Samsung Morning Stars, which also renewed their commitment to Overwatch this year, unfortunately, did not make it to progress on their way to the playoffs. The defeat came right in the quarter-finals, in the derby against the HSL Esports. Although the match started in the best possible way for the Bergamo formation, the Lions became the protagonists of a decisive and ruthless comeback, which led them to ring three maps in a row: the Temple of Anubis, Hollywood, and Dorado.
The journey of the Samsung Morning Stars to the Contenders will certainly resume next season although, in all probability, we will not see the same roster this year. At least, according to what reported, the renewal should not be radical.
The official roster for this season was composed by Coach Richard ” Pipou ” Buscami and seven players, including five unreleased: Adam ” Khegasi ” Benaouad, Owen ” Slur ” Warne, William ” Asking ” Vetter, Theo ” Tek36 ” Guillebaud and Simon ” Chubz ” Vullo. The two senators, already in force at the Morning Stars, are Edmondo ” Dragoneddy ” Cerini and Arthur “Dridro” Szanto.
Now coach PiPou will take on the role of assistant coach of the French national team at the Overwatch World Cup, while the Samsung Morning Stars have announced – just before the big match against HSL Esports – the arrival in Bergamo of a new head coach: Evert “ AlmostPanda “Holmsen, Swedish coach of experience. We just have to wait to find out how the Bergamo team will evolve for the next season.
