On the occasion of the Gamescom 2019 in Cologne, Gearbox has unveiled new details on Borderlands 3 endgame content. Among these, we will see the return of the Horde mode (Massacre Campaign) and the debut of the new Proving Grounds mode.
The news about Borderlands 3 endgame content came from creative director Paul Sage during the Open Night Live, the Gamescom 2019 opening ceremony.
Once players have completed the main adventure of Borderlands 3, they will be able to engage in a series of endgame content that will offer new challenges and rewards. Among these, the return of the Massacre Campaign was confirmed, the Horde mode already seen in Borderlands 2 that allowed players to come together to face progressive waves of increasingly powerful enemies.
The gearbox also announced the introduction of the new Proving Grounds mode, consisting of special missions that can be accessed by completing optional targets and examining the inscriptions of the Eridians, the ancient alien race that left its mark on the planet Pandora.
Furthermore, these endgame contents will be joined by future activities that will be introduced with DLCs after the publication of the game. Meanwhile, during Gamescom 2019, Gearbox also showed the first video gameplay for the Borderlands 3 co-op mode, in addition to the new 4K trailer dedicated to Lilith.
