Digital Foundry Analyzes The Witcher 3 for Nintendo Switch

The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch? Panic Button Says It Is Not Working on Porting

Digital Foundry has published the video analysis of The Witcher 3 Definitive Edition for Nintendo Switch, a title shown at the Gamescom in Cologne and arriving in October on the hybrid console of the Kyoto company.

The port of the CD Projekt RED game is developed by the Saber Interactive studio, the team, unfortunately, had to descend to numerous aesthetic and technical compromises to adapt Geralt’s adventure to the architecture of the Nintendo console, as witnessed by our Francesco Fossetti in the test of The Witcher 3 for Switch: the game runs at 540p in portable mode and with dynamic resolution between 540 and 720p in Dock mode, in any case, a value not too exciting, which greatly reduces the overall glance.

Problems also with regards to the pop-in (with elements that appear and disappear in the distance to reduce the workload of the CPU) and the fluidity, with declines in framerates apparently marked in the most agitated situations, while loading times are reduced compared to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions. The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Definitive Edition will be released on October 15 on Nintendo Switch, in addition to the base game this edition will also include the Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine expansions.
