The acquisition of Insomniac Games by Sony Interactive Entertainment is recent news, an event that has understandably led to the publication of numerous congratulatory messages from the heads of other Sony internal studios such as Naughty Dog, Santa Monica, and Sucker Punch, as well as to the wishes of two prominent personalities.
As reported on the ResetERA forum, Sam Lake and Hideo Kojima also expressed their joy at the acquisition of Insomniac Games and congratulated the Californian team for entering the PlayStation family. The messages in question have given way to a long series of speculations related to the fact that Sony could also acquire (or have already acquired) Remedy and Kojima Productions, hence the will of the founders of the two studios to give the ” Welcome to the family ” to the developers of Marvel’s Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank.
Clearly, this is just speculation, according to various insiders Sony’s acquisitions are not over and Shawn Layden (President of Sony Worldwide Studios) has hinted that the company is looking for teams capable of adapting to the PlayStation philosophy. In this sense, what better names than Remedy and Kojima Productions, studios specialized in the production of single-player games with a strong narrative component?
And you, what do you think? Does Sony really want to acquire Kojima Productions and Remedy or is it just speculation without foundation?
