Following the announcement of Final Fantasy VIII Remastered by Square Enix for E3 2019, hopes for a retail edition of the title had spread.
In particular, sightings of a physical version of the JRPG at some e-commerce sites attracted attention. In particular Final Fantasy VIII Remastered appeared in the Amazon and PlayAsia lists, arousing in the community linked to the title the hope of eventually being able to buy it in a retail version. With the announcement of the final publication date of the game, however, no announcement has been received by Square Enix of this kind.
Now, further confirmation of the exclusively digital publication also appears to come from official sources. According to Nintendo Everything, in fact, it seems that the official website of Final Fantasy VIII Remastered confirms the absence of a retail edition of this newly remastered version of the game. As further proof of this, all references to the product have disappeared from the pages of the PlayAsia store. Gamers dedicated to the iconic JRPG will, therefore, have to settle for a digital version of it.
Final Fantasy VIII Remastered will be available starting September 3rd, on PC, Playstation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. In closing, we point out that it is already possible to pre-order on Steam.
