Return of the Obra Dinn, one of the most acclaimed independent games of last year, will be released on Nintendo Switch this fall as announced during Direct tonight, however, author Lucas Pope (also known for Papers, Please) has confirmed that the game will arrive also on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
“In 1802, the merchant ship Obra Dinn leaves London for the East, with over 200 tons of merchandise. Six months later it does not reach the meeting at the Cape of Good Hope and is reported missing. This morning, October 14 of 1807, the Obra Dinn arrived adrift in the port of Falmouth, with its sails damaged and without a trace of its crew. An insurance investigator of the London office of the East India Company, sent immediately to the spot, manages to get on board to prepare a damage appraisal. Return of the Obra Dinn is an adventure of mystery in the first person, based on exploration and logical deduction.“
Pope speaks of a launch window set generically for autumn 2019 on all three major consoles, more details on the release date will be released soon. Undoubtedly this is good news for all lovers of Lucas Pope games and indie productions with a strong narrative component.
