Cyberpunk 2077: Secondary Missions Can Upset the Main Plot

Among the many merits of which The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt can boast, it is impossible not to mention the extreme care taken by the developers of CD Projekt RED against the secondary missions of the concluding chapter of the adventures of Geralt of Rivia.

The natural evolution of what we have already seen in The Witcher 3, we will have it inside Cyberpunk 2077: the intent of the Polish software house is to make the side quests not a mere outline, but a founding element of the whole experience of the game.

According to the latest statements by Philip Weber, senior Sci-Fi RPG designer, some secondary missions, and the narrative implications of these will have the potential to upset the main plot :

“The side quests can obviously represent completely autonomous stories, but they can also prolong a primary quest or even give life to a new branch within the campaign “ , declared Weber, taking as an example what was already seen in the side quest “Il Blood Baron “of The Witcher 3, generally considered one of the most successful of the entire game.

“Characters encountered on a secondary mission may suddenly reappear in the main quest. In this way, players will never know what to expect. Sometimes, a secondary quest could turn into something much bigger and change the whole story of the game. it is definitely worth playing all the quests and seeing how they interact with each other. 

Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Google Stadia on April 16th, 2020. After unveiling new details on the crafting system, CD Projekt RED recently released a new video behind the scenes of the E3 game presentation 2019.
