During the International Broadcasting Convention in Amsterdam held in recent days, Google was also present, which seems to have confirmed Android TV’s support for Google Stadia, the highly anticipated gaming service arriving in November.
The news comes through a leak of an anonymous user, who managed to photograph the entire Android roadmap until 2021, revealing that support for Google Stadia will be active starting from the 11 R version of the operating system, whose launch is expected in 2020.
Among the most interesting innovations, there would be a refresh of the Play Store, a general improvement of the system, and particular attention paid by Google to assistants and artificial intelligence. Furthermore, there would also be a clue that a Pixel TV could be coming in the future since we are talking about a next-generation device that supports glasses (Google Lens?) And real-time subtitles. The tab speaks of “Applying Google’s innovations to TV”.
But there are also downsides, such as the introduction of advertising on the home, and during video streaming. However, it is not clear at the moment how they should work and how invasive they will be, so we wait before we swallow our heads.
What do you think? Are you happy with the support of Stadia on Android TV? We remind you that the Google Stadia service will be testable free after the launch.
