PlayStation 5 will be backward compatible with PS4 games, as confirmed by Mark Cerny several times, however, it is not clear how Sony will handle this aspect and many people wonder if the concept of remastering as we have known it until now will continue to exist.
In all likelihood, the current generation games will run on PS5 without any particular additions while the (possible) remastered editions will present technical improvements and bonus content, again for the pure hypothesis. PSU has tried to compile a list of PS4 games that could enjoy many benefits on PlayStation 5, such as support for 60 fps or an updated graphics compartment.
These include Bloodborne, Borderlands 3, Control of Remedy, Destiny 2, Final Fantasy VII Remake, God of War (2018), Grand Theft Auto V, Resident Evil 2 Remake, Shadow of the Colossus and The Last of Us Part 2. Will we see some of these titles in the next-gen sauce? Hard to say, according to some rumors the game Naughty Dog seems to be destined to be part of the PS5 launch lineup, with Sony using TLOU2 to show the press the real potential and technical specifications of PlayStation 5.
The only certainty about The Last Of Us 2, at the moment, concerns the presentation of new material to the press, with the main international media invited to Los Angeles on September 24th for a special event organized by Sony.
