The word Cyberpunk indicates a precise representation of the future: technological improvements for the body, flying machines, colored neon lights, and holographic signs and so on. Anesthetic is already seen in many films, anime and video games in recent years, so what will CD Projekt RED be able to do again?
Cyberpunk 2077 is, in fact, one of the most anticipated projects of the last period also because of the developers who are at work on the game, capable of creating memorable settings and stories. So how did Night City come about, for example? The answer was Marthe Jonkers, Concept Art Coordinator of CD Projekt RED, who revealed of course that he had taken Mike Pondsmith’s Cyberpunk 2020 as a base, and then had to adapt the setting, since almost 60 years have passed since then.
“Our team has seen practically all the films and read every cyberpunk book that exists, and we have them all printed on the head. We know the entire canon of cyberpunk, but we still want to create something really fresh and new.”
Jonkers and the artists at work on the game have therefore tried to think, for example, of fashions that were born and died during the 57 years that pass between the two games, also with regards to the look of Night City: “At the beginning of the project, we thought about it. Our art directors tried to think of this visual background for Night City and we used it as a guideline for the style of the game, and then you will see all these old fashions reflected in clothing and weapon design, for example “.
What do you think of his words? What do you expect visually from the game? We remind you that the release date for Cyberpunk 2077 is scheduled for 16 April 2020.
