Nobuya Nakazato, executive producer of Contra: Rogue Corps, in a recent interview returned to talk about the future of the historic Konami series, not excluding a possible return to the two dimensions.
Contra: Rogue Corps, was presented at the 2019 edition of E3 in Los Angeles and its launch is imminent: the title will in fact debut on September 26th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. Rogue Corps marks an unexpected return to the three dimensions for the series, after the last attempt made with Contra 3D in 2013.
However, when interviewed by his dualshockers.com colleagues, Nobuya Nakazato did not rule out a future 2D return of the series: ” I love 2D games and I like the idea of making new ones, but if I had to work on developing a new two-dimensional title dedicated to Contra, this should present innovative gameplay elements. I don’t want to make a game just to update the graphics, it must have something different from the past “.
Nakazato has participated in the development of Contra III: The Alien Wars and Rocket Knight Adventures.
Konami has unveiled the first details regarding Contra’s post-launch support: Rogue Corps, including some of the content that will be featured in the Season Pass. A demo version of the new Contra is already available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch owners.
