After the success achieved with the adapter to allow the use of the PS4 DualShock 4 on Switch, the well-known manufacturer of gaming accessories 8BitDo presents a new wireless Gamepad designed specifically for Nintendo Switch Lite.
Described as an ultraportable controller made to make lovers of retro video games and two-dimensional adventures happy, the new 8BitDo Gamepad takes up the Switch Lite form factor and design to represent a perfect “playful complement” to the experience offered by the new console portable from Nintendo.
The hardware peculiarity of this controller is represented by the absence of analogue sticks : replacing them we find in fact two twin D-Pads which, according to the US manufacturer, make this Gamepad “fully functional” with all the games present in the Nintendo Switch library, it is assumed by customizing the buttons with configurable remapping of the two-directional crosses.
The 8BitDo engineering solution should, therefore, make it possible to play those titles that, like Zelda Link’s Awakening, only partially support (or do not support at all ) the D-Pad of the Switch Lite controllers and the two Joy-Cons of the basic version of Nintendo Switch for managing the movements of one’s alter-ego. It is also worth pointing out that the Gamepad in question will also be compatible with Mac OS, Android, Windows, Raspberry Pi and many other technological devices, thanks to the wide support of the Bluetooth standard and the possibility of updating the firmware via the USB-C port to use to charge the controller.
The North American launch of the 8BitDo “Switch Lite” Gamepad is scheduled for October 30 at a budget price of $24.99.
