PlayStation 4: cross-play is out of beta and is now available

PlayStation 2018

The news is of those important, perhaps epochal: Sony is finally about to embrace cross-play support. The feature loudly requested by users, and made available so far only for a giant like Fortnite and other few lucky titles, will, therefore, be a real possibility for all developers.

Certainly, the number of games that included this functionality had increased over time. It is yesterday’s news, for example, that PUBG now supports cross-play between PS4 and Xbox One , but the official closure of the beta is something else, especially because the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is approaching, which supports cross-play from launch, and could, therefore, be the first title to come out under these new conditions.

Sony’s move, however, comes only a day after the announcement of a review of plans for the PlayStation Now service, which is now cheaper and more attractive, being more in line with the offer proposed by the competition, and has added decidedly more games prominent compared to what happened previously.

In short, Sony seems to have every intention of entering the next-gen in a big way, reserving PS5 the absolute starring role that PlayStation 4 has already taken for this generation of consoles. What do you think? Are you happy with Sony ‘s release of cross-play? Did you expect this news?
