Overwatch: announced the first of a series of novels set in the game universe

Are the videos about origins, animated shorts, comics and the game itself not enough to satisfy your curiosity about the vast universe of Overwatch? We have good news for you! The Hero of Numbani, the first in a series of novels inspired by Blizzard Entertainment’s hero shooter, has just been announced.

Written by Nicky Drayden, author of The Prey of Gods and various novels set in the world of Magic: The Gathering, and published by Scholastic Inc, The Hero of Numbani will arrive in US bookstores and digital stores on May 5, 2020. At present, no details on marketing in other countries are known.

As you may have guessed from the title, the novel will have Efi Oladele as its protagonist, a brilliant girl whose results in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence have earned her the prestigious scholarship of the Adawe Foundation. Efi, after witnessing the destruction of the Numbani bots operated by Doomfist, purchased a dismantled OR15 (a not very efficient defense robot) and, by exploiting its amazing knowledge in the field of robotics, gave birth to Orisa, one of the game heroes. Lucìo, another character well known to all players, will also appear in the novel.

The game, meanwhile, is preparing to land for the first time on Nintendo Switch. The Legendary Edition of Overwatch will be published on the hybrid on October 15th.
