We know that PlayStation 5 will be compatible with PS4 games, but how exactly will this be handled? In the article by Wired, there is no mention of the backward compatibility of the new Sony console, however interesting details on the matter come from the pages of Famitsu.
The Japanese newspaper has asked a spokesman for Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan & Asia , who commented using these words (English translation by DualShockers): ” at the moment we are working to ensure total compatibility with all the games in the PlayStation 4 catalog but we cannot assure you, I can confirm that we are working with all the major developers to make all PS4 games compatible with PlayStation 5. “
Sony seems to have not yet established precise plans regarding the software backward compatibility between PlayStation 4 and PS5, there are those who hypothesize in the distribution of patches also capable of improving the technical sector and optimizing the “old” games but at the moment it is only speculation.
In the coming months, we will certainly know even more about this feature of PlayStation 5, one of the most requested by the community after the total absence of backward compatibility (also with regard to the digital catalog) between PlayStation 3 and PS4. And what do you think?
