During the BlizzCon 2019 opening ceremony, Blizzard announced the new Shadowlands expansion of World of Warcraft with a spectacular computer graphics trailer. Soon after, the Irvine company provided the first information on what awaits all the players of the famous MMORPG.
In Shadowlands, they will have to venture into the realm of the dead (Terretetre), made accessible by a gash created by Sylvanas Ventolesto, former Warlord of the Horde. The afterlife will consist of five different areas, namely the Bastione, Maldraxxus, Selvarden and Revendreth and the Fauce, in which the players will come into contact with the Congregations that reign in these territories of the Terretetre:
- The resolute Kyrian of the Bastion, obliged by duty and discipline to safeguard the souls of the kingdom of the dead during the passage to the Terretetre;
- The mysterious Silfi of the Night by Selvarden, who fiercely defend the spirits of nature from those I want to deprive them of their rebirth;
- The astute Venthyrs of Revendreth, who feed on the proudest and selfish souls in a Gothic kingdom of opulence and torment;
- The warlike Necrosignori of Maldraxxus, who forge the armies of undead who fight between the front lines in defense of the Terretetre and honor those who seek power and glory in battle.
At the center of the Fauce rises Torreterna, the Tower of the Damned, a cursed prison of the afterlife where the evilest souls in the universe are imprisoned. In this highly replayable tower inspired by roguelike games, the heroes will have to explore ever-changing rooms and battle the servants of the Jailer, the infamous ruler of Torreterna. You can get a taste of the new settings and their inhabitants in the 4K screenshots collected in the gallery at the bottom of this news.
In their journey, players will also be called upon to face some legends of the defunct World of Warcraft universe, such as Uther the Herald of Light and Kael’thas. World of Warcraft Shadowlands will also introduce 8 new dungeons, a raid for 10 players, and a new level progression system, aimed at providing a more marked sense of progress. Characters currently at the highest level will start Shadowlands at level 50 and can reach the new maximum level of 60.
